WHO WE ARE
Heartland HEMA is one of the top HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) schools in the mid-west/ great plains region. Located in beautiful Kansas City, Missouri, Heartland HEMA specializes in instructing students of all levels and physical ability in the use of a variety of renaissance and medieval. Heartland HEMA is a living lineage school. Meaning Heartland HEMA follows a tradition of technic and style passed down from master to student, reaching back hundreds of years.
OUR PASSION
Heartland HEMA teaches the art of the sword as it would have been taught and practiced historically in Europe. The tradition Heartland HEMA follows is mainly Italian based. There is also a heavy influence from Scotland and the British Isles. Heartland primarily focuses on the study of rapiers, smallsword, longsword, basket-hilted board/backsword, and saber.
